Bloodies

Is there anything in this world that is quite as satisfying as a well made Bloody Mary? And, that being said, is there anything more disappointing than a poorly made bloody mary? I love a good Bloody, and I am usually the one that makes it, because I have very high standards. It's hard for me to find a bar that makes one to my liking. It's terribly frustrating finding a place that advertises a brunch that includes a bloody mary, and then find out that it's just tomato juice and vodka, maybe they throw a little black pepper in, or maybe a dash of horseradish. But, for the love of all that is Holy, that is not a bloody mary!  Get it right!  Take some pride in what you do!  Take the time to pre-make your batch of mix, use some exotic and unusual ingredients.  I like to add a little dijon mustard, but thats not totally necessary. worcestershire, or beef bullion. While the bloody is a well known hangover helper, it's also a damn fine cocktail.  I went a long time when I couldn't drink them. For an extended period of time in college, I decided that it would be cool to drink nothing but bloodies. I took them with me wherever I went, I even carried my own pepper shaker around with me.  It was terribly douchy, and I am aware of that, but I was known as the bloody dude, and I knew how to make and consume them at any given time.
