off we go

And here we are. Sitting in the airport for what feels like an eternity. Doesn't that always seem to be the case when you are anxious to get somewhere? I would like to think, that when you start a vacation, the possibilities are endless, and that no matter what you may have planned for that trip, there always has to be room for change, and have the experience as organic and enjoyable as possible. If you think that it's going to go wholly according to plan, then there is something wrong with the way you think. What could be more exciting than the unknown? When the children were little, i suppose that there was a certain need to have all time planned out with activities to keep them engaged and entertained. But there is a gigantic flaw in that logic. Now my kids need to be entertained as opposed to finding entertainment on their own. They can't seem to find joy in the wilderness. I now approach as much as I can with my children as finding adventure in everything that they do. it doesn't always work, and it's sometimes a real chore to get them out of doors, but when it happens it's magical. And I try and approach every request to do something with an enthusiastic response of "YES!  THAT SOUNDS FUN!" and do everything that comes up, and never seem disinterested. I want my kids to always have a need and desire to explore and to find the fun that exists outside, and off the grid. Even if it means sacrificing a frog or two. Make it worthwhile. Live your life in the wild, as much as possible.
